Faculty

Catherine Goss, Rehearsal Director, Contemporary & Ballet Teacher

The past twelve years have seen Catherine hold Artistic positions with a variety of Companies. Catherine was an Associate Artistic Director of West Australian Ballet from 2005-2007. As a Rehearsal Director, she has worked with Bangarra Dance Theatre (2003-2004 and again 2009-2012 – including Bush, Fire, About, ID, Spirit and Terrain), TasDance, Sydney Dance Company (Underland / Mercury) and Tanja Liedtke’s construct for the 2009 tour. She also held the position of the Assistant to the Director of Australian Dance Theatre (2002).

Over the past decade, she has been guest teacher for a number of companies both nationally and internationally and many training institutions and schools throughout Australia. She was a panel member on the WA Ausdance committee and has held positions on both the Australian Dance Awards and the Helpmann Awards voting panels.

Catherine was awarded the Centenary Federation Medal for Services to Dance in 2003. She was the recipient of an Australian Council Grant for Skills and Development in 2008 and traveled throughout Europe. Before returning to Australia in February 2009, she was interim Ballet Mistress for Introdans in The Netherlands.

Catherine’s formative years of dance training were in Canberra under the guidance of Janet Karin and Bryan Lawrence. After graduating from Victorian College of the Arts in 1986 with a Diploma of Performing Arts, Catherine joined Royal New Zealand Ballet attaining the rank of soloist. Her other performance credits include Graeme Murphy’s Sydney Dance Company (including Free Radicals / Synergy with Synergy / Piano Sonata / Salome and Poppy to name a few), Reflexdansgezelschap (Netherlands) and choreographic development at The Chorographic Centre (Canberra) with Cheryl Haezelwood and Liz Lea. She also performed and collaborated in numerous projects in the UK and Netherlands.

Most recently Catherine was invited as Rehearsal Director for Sydney Dance Company on their International Tour of 2 One Another in September / October 2013. She was also a member of the curatorial panel for the Australian Dance Awards 2013 (Canberra). Catherine is currently a freelance teacher, rehearsal director and mentor, based in Sydney.

Barbora Kohoutková, Principal Dancer, Dance Pedagogue

Barbora Kohoutková was born in Prague and throughout her very active childhood practiced ballet, gymnastics, and various sports. From the age of 4, at the ballet school of the National Theatre of Prague, she performed many children’s roles in ballet and opera performances. Through these early formative experiences, she discovered her love and passion for dancing.

At the age of 10, she began studying at the Dance Conservatory in Prague. While still in school, she took part in several international dance competitions and was awarded many prizes, such as the Grand Prix at the Paris International Ballet Competition, First Prize and the Grand Prix in Helsinki and at the New York International Ballet Competition, among others.

In 1996, at the age of 17, she was offered a position as a principal dancer at the Finnish National Ballet, where she danced for six years. Barbora has also danced as a guest artist with the company of La Scala, at the World Ballet Festival in Tokyo and in international galas throughout the world.

Barbora performed as a guest artist with the Bavarian State Ballet in Munich and then danced with the company for one year. In 2003 she became a soloist with the Boston Ballet and then in 2004, at the invitation of John Neumeier, she joined the Hamburg Ballet as a principal dancer where she performed until 2008.

At present Barbora is teaching and coaching ballet with schools and companies all over the world. She is also a certified instructor of GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS®.

    Hi There,

    Saya ingin memasukkan anak saya yg berusia 4 tahun utk belajar balet.
    Kebetulan kami tinggal di daerah cinangka sawangan depok.

    Mohon info dimana posisi balet Indonesia dan berapa biayanya.
